Espoo Music Institute

Espoo Music Institute – or EMO – is the largest and oldest artistic institute in the city of Espoo. EMO provides basic education in arts according to advanced syllabus of music. Our goal is that every pupil at EMO should find his or her own musical pathway, one which meets the pupil’s individual needs and aims and which may continue throughout the pupil’s life as an ongoing pursuit.

EMO provides

Early childhood music education groups
(music playschool)

  • for 0-6 years old children
  • Enrolling in vacant places: www.emo.fi
  • Student fee: from 105 €/semester (45 min. lesson/week) up to 210 €/week (90 min. lesson/week)

Rhytmics groups

  • starting at age of 5 up to adults
  • You may start rhytmics at any age.
  • Enrolling for the next school year begins on May 2019 via www.emo.fi
  • Student fee: from 105 €/ semester (45 min. lesson/week) up to 210 €/week
    (90 min. lesson/ week)

Preparatory instrumental instruction
i.e. ”pre-school” –level

  • starting at age of 5 up to adults
  • You may start rhytmics at any age.
  • Enrolling for the next school year begins on May 2019 via www.emo.fi
  • Student fee: from 105 €/ semester (45 min. lesson/ week) up to 210 €/week
    (90 min. lesson/ week)

Instrumental instruction

  • all Western acoustic instruments
  • instrumental studies begin approximately at age of 6-13, depending the instrument
  • instrumental studies include a weekly individual instrument lesson, orchestera or other music group, and music basic skills –workshops and other studies by free choice (rhytmic groups, Kameleontti-choirs)
  • Apply by registering to the entrance exams via www.emo.fi Registration to entrance exams begins on April 1st and ends on May 15th

Kameleontti choirs

Three different groups make up the Kameleontti Choirs:

  1. Hepuli (6-8 years old)
  2. Sekamelska (9-12 years old)
  3. Uni (12- up years old) 

The new choir members are chosen by singing test. Registration to singing test
